Luna fidgeted with the wrappings on her leg as she listened to him talk. It hurt her heart to know he was in trouble like this, and the last thing she wanted to do was to turn her back on him. But what could she do if that’s what he wanted her to do?
But she didn’t feel like leaving him was the right thing to do, even if that’s what he wanted. Luna continued to stare at her hands as she messed with the wrappings.
“Artemis” she started, “I’ll do that or at least try to do that if it is what you want. Honestly I will.” Luna said still not looking up. Her stomach was in knots. She didn’t like the situation, the corner they were stuck in. “However I--- I don’t feel right doing it.”
She glanced up for a moment to notice he was looking down as well before she returned her gaze back to her hands.
“This isn’t right. This whole situation just isn’t right.” She murmured.
At that moment she looked up and over at him. “Whether you fucked up or not doesn’t matter at all Artemis. Nothing can give them the right to hunt you down like a wild animal. No one has that right.”
It wasn’t a question, or a worried remark. It was a statement, one Luna believed whole heartedly.
Luna recalled her and her brother running from their burning house when they were younger, trying to get as far away from their pursuers, their parents killers, as fast as possible. She knew they were still after them now, but it had been ages since they had found any sort of lead to find her or her brother. Luna hoped she would never see that group again, but she knew that was only wishful thinking. She just simply keeps that thought pushed out of her mind most of the time.
Though that situation was different from this one, one thing was essentially the same; he was being hunted down just like she had been.
“No Artemis I don’t believe you deserve this. You are neither a criminal nor an animal, and this is not what you deserve.”
