PERSONAL HISTORY
Crow was born from a mother and father he hardly remembers. He lived a relatively normal, if not nomadic life, as his parents moved from place to place in hopes of finding somewhere to settle down and start a life in America. As he grew older, he was tasked with more responsibilities, which finally culminated to taking care of the ranch his mother and father had built. He cared for it until their deaths, then, in an utterly foolish move, lost it during a bet where he had been challenged to ride a bull for a certain amount of time. The bull ended up taking his eye, leading to his nickname 'Bulls-eye' and the loss of the ranch. Without money or a home, he wandered until he found a job as a cattle herder. There, his lonely existence only worsened as he was forced to herd the cattle for miles on his own. Though it was incredibly depressing, it wasn't his job that led to his suicide, but his missing eye. Because of his stubborn nature, he had refused medical care, and had begun to succumb to gangrene, which had slowly made his existence even more miserable.
One day, after having traveled down a particularly long trail to get his boss's herd to their destination, he came upon a canyon. There, he dismounted from his horse and spent a while sitting on the edge. As he sat, he managed to catch sight of a flock of birds flying over the canyon and over the horizon. A sudden desire to join them overcame him, and, with only a goodbye to his horse, he leapt, and did, if only briefly, join them in their flight.
Death was just as brief. He was brought back, and named 'Subject #8' by an enigmatic creature named Σκοτάδι, or 'Dark', in a land called 'Maelstrom' by its sparse residents. There, he was sent to work in the fields, where he stood guard over the plants that were fertilized by the decaying flesh of old 'Subjects'. Because of the local birds' affinity to him, he decided to call himself Crow, and although life there was dull, it was nice.
Until Dark decided he needed a companion.
Subject #9, or as he called himself, 'Jack', came along one day, and stood guard right next to Crow. Though this irked him deeply, the stranger seemed unfazed by his glares and scowls. It was this tolerance that soon cemented a bond between them, and they slowly, but surely, became friends.
The population of Maelstrom grew, and with it, numerous problems. Together, the duo did their best to help out where they could, and during this period of turmoil, Crow began to look at his friend in a different, unpleasant light. Something about the way he always wore that goofy grin, that stupid 'I'm-about-to-make-a-lame-joke-and-you're-going-to-like-it' look, and that funny way he walked seemed to stir something up in him that had never been stirred up before. Crow disliked it immensely, and so began the hostility.
Though they had their squabbles, Crow had never outright hurt Jack. But with the development of that new, unwanted feeling, he began to lash out, and even try to kill his friend in an attempt to get rid of it. But Jack, tolerant, simply managed to thwart his every attempt without even realizing the core issue, leaving Crow the little ball of anger he is today.
PERSONALITY
Surly, with a perpetual scowl on his face, Crow is generally a misanthrope. He dislikes meeting new people, especially Jack's friends, and is very hostile to anyone he meets. He holds that belief that men have to be strong and show no outward feelings, and because of it, tends to come off as very cold towards others. Due to this same belief, most of Crow's problems are resolved with his fists, and if his fists don't solve them, he resorts to his machete.
Because of his misanthropic nature, he tends to be somewhat introverted, and makes no attempt to make friends. Instead, he hangs around his birds all of the time, leading him to become the resident 'cat-lady' of Maelstrom.
Like Jack, Crow enjoys drinking, though not as much as his pumpkin-headed friend. He also plays the guitar, but often ends up smashing them out of frustration whenever someone comes along and interrupts him. He hates children, cats, and women, though the only reason he hates women is because Aveline, the daughter of Dark, loves to antagonize him and has thus left a bad taste in his mouth.
Due to having never been in a relationship, he has an odd sense of prudishness, and is made uncomfortable by excessive touching, such as hugs or kisses, but not by punches and neck-throttling.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Though he doesn't seem to have any muscles, Crow actually possesses quite a bit of strength. And a pudge from eating too much birdseed. He has hollow eyes, though one of them, the one that had been torn out while he was a human, still has the scar in his scarecrow-body. He has stitches holding his limbs together, and stitched his hat to his head to prevent anyone [read: Jack] from taking it off. He has plenty of scars, but due to the fact that he pretty much never takes his clothes off, they aren't often seen. His odd legs are a result of a punishment, and are a bad match for his body, causing the base of his bird-legs to bleed, and bleed often. He still wears almost the same attire as he did when he was a cattle herder during his first life, though it is ratty and torn thanks to multiple battles and a refusal to get them mended.
