Name: BENJAMIN HUNTER Nickname: HUNTER Age: 17 Gender: MALE Species: HUMAN Ethnicity: PORTUGUESE Height: 5'10'' OR 178 CM Weight: 159 LBS OR 72 KG Orientation: STRAIGHT Occupation: STUDENT Play-by: Amy
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Hunter was often teased for his dark locks, but with a few years to gain his confidence and sense of identity, his haunting insecurity soon became a source of pride. Soon enough, his vanity had led him to purchasing various products, which he can ramble about for longer than any of his friends can endure. His brown eyes can be unexpressive, and many take that aspect of him and his bad posture to be signs of carelessness, but Hunter often proves otherwise when approached as a friend. He's always been a bit lanky, but in his recent years, his running habit has gained him some muscle. Although he tries to tan, he can only take the time aside to do so in summer breaks, since his often flimsy part time jobs are often indoors. Despite his constant need to be in a work environment due to his mother's financial problems, his wardrobe consists of mostly loose tank tops, dark jeans, some bermudas, some dress shirts (short sleeves) and many scarves. Although he's not a sharp dresser, Hunter has had to create much better habits in order to guarantee him employment in certain areas. Many would expect Hunter to be fond of piercings and tattoos, but while he doesn't mind them on others, he's never been too keen on having body decorations himself. He has a subtle eye piercing which he got when he was 15, but it often goes by unnoticed under some locks of hair or is too just too subtle to be pointed out. He's fond of it nonetheless, which can be attributed to the independence it represented for him as his first decision without consultation more so than to the aesthetic itself.
PERSONALITY Due to his many jobs as a cashier and work clerk, Hunter has improved his basic social skills, but is surprisingly withdrawn in school. He has very few close friends (to whom he has proved to be very talktative, often to a point of being shushed), and those who don't know his kind nature often see him as irresponsible for his attitude in the classroom. Yet, his lack of interest in his studies grew from the treatment he received from his classmates, which his quiet demeanor only encouraged. Hunter does appreciate the learning environment, though, and has taken a keen interest in marine biology. Due to his excellence in AP biology, he tutors struggling students thrice a week, but he remains modest about his achievements due to his struggle in other classes. Hunter tends to see life very simply, and although he seeks to enjoy small moments as they come, he is not one to look on the bright side. He recognizes that life is unfair, and for whatever reason, it seems to be particularly unfair to his family moreso than anyone else's. Due to his growing pessimism, many of his teachers have started to let go of their attempts to lead him to grand universities or encourage him to seek better opportunities. In fact, his isolated family situation has been spiraling down with his social and academic lives, which has led him to perfect his disposition (or at least what he can act) at work as his friendships have crumbled away. He's currently unsure of wether he even wants to complete senior year, but if he does so, internship offers would be avaliable to him to take care of the animals at his local aquarium. Despite his inner struggles, Hunter is quite the talkative kind and can be easily distracted from his troubles.
PERSONAL HISTORY Hunter's parents divorced when he was 4, leaving him with a nurturing mother and a father that hasn't spoken to them since. He doesn't actually care much for his father and hasn't felt the need for his presence, since he was too young to understand the situation at the time and felt very loved by his mother ever since. The only trouble he had in his young years was a case of bullying - too mild to be recognized by the teachers, but enough to create insecurities about his hair and, with the help of his own imagination and hypothesizing, his appearance in general. Yet, no one would ever guess Hunter ever doubted how lovely his well-cared-for hair is, due to the various products he maintains in his household and speaks of with no shame. When Hunter was 15, he got an eyebrow piercing, receiving a surprisingly mind reaction from his mother. It was clear that his conscience's screaming had already been punishment enough, and although his mother spoke against it, she never asked him to remove it. As he grew older, Hunter noticed more and more often how little his mother scolded or spoke harshly, and when he confronted her on it one day, she replied that she was afraid of losing him. Soon, the small adaptations (moving to a smaller house, getting hand-me-downs from his cousin instead of shopping, not eating out much) clarified what he'd already known. He knew their family wasn't particularly wealthy, and that others in his school were in a better situation, but soon enough, he had to comfort his crying mother as their debt increased. Soon enough, he found a job of his own as a cashier at a local gas station, leaving his mother with tears of joy as he returned home with income of his own in order to help her. That summer, Hunter had quit in order to enjoy time with his friends. Soon after, he found his mother begging for her job, having to offer extra work hours and dabbling in tasks that weren't her own in order to maintain her small salary. Due to this incident, Hunter never dropped out of a job again. He had trouble maintaining jobs - at first, due to his lack of social skills, and later on, due to his lack of interest in his work. But he always rushed to a new job without speaking to his mother to avoid her worrying, and started gaining a reputation in town for it. Various elderly women tipped him highly, proud of him for helping his mother; various girls tipped him highly, but he'd never flirt back due to a two year relationship he hadn't gotten over that ended at 16; various others just thought him helpful and liked how much knowledge he seemed to display with his great amount of words. But his desired workplace only replied in his junior year, offering him an internship to work with the marine animals if his excellence in biology continued 'til senior year. With his mother's situation worsening and little that he can do at this point, Hunter is conflicted between following his dream (but needing to invest heavily in his studies) and spending his life in small jobs helping his mother. Although he has a great preference for the former, his conscience would never allow him to take his mother's investments nor leave her without him - not since she expressed her fear of it. At the moment, this difficult decision has led him into bitterness, and without ever wanting to blame his mother, Hunter can only blame himself for being her burden. |
